Origin Story
Facets & Fire began with a simple belief: our experiences shape us, but no single experience defines the whole of who we are.
So we began with a question: What becomes possible when we stop allowing one chapter to speak for our entire story?
We all have experiences that shape us.
Some we celebrate. Some we question. Some we’re still learning to embrace.
Sometimes, one experience, one role, or one version of ourselves feels like the whole story.
This space challenges the idea that one facet defines us.
No single facet can reveal the full beauty of a diamond.
Each facet catches and reflects light differently.
Together, they create the brilliance of the whole.
The same is true of us.
Each experience shapes who we are, but no single experience can tell the whole story.
When we become curious about all our facets, we begin to see the fullness and beauty of who we are.
That recognition brings the light.
What we choose to do with it is where the fire begins.

Facets & Fire is not here to tell you who you should become.
It is an invitation to see more of who you already are.
My hope is that you feel free to explore all of it—the beautiful, complicated, surprising, and unfinished parts—without asking any one part to explain all of you.

MEET CAROLYN
I’m still exploring my facets, too.
I’ve spent much of my life being very good at the roles I was given—and the ones I chose: soldier, mother, grandmother, leader, professional, student, entrepreneur, author.
And I’m proud of those parts of my story.
But I’ve also learned that a role can tell you something about a person without telling you everything about her.
Facets & Fire comes from that realization.
I’m not here because I’ve mastered every lesson or figured out every facet. I’m here because I’ve become deeply interested in the questions—and I believe some of the best ones are worth exploring together.
I’m Dr. Carolyn Y. Taylor—a mother, grandmother, Army veteran, author, entrepreneur, and the founder of Facets & Fire.
