A Life Beyond the Plan

Asscher Cut · Perspective

Many of us learned early what a successful life was supposed to look like. We carried an idea of where we would be by now, what we would have achieved, and who we would be along the way.

Then life had plans of its own. Apparently, it did not consult our timeline, our vision board, or the beautifully organized plan in our head.

When the life we are living does not resemble the one we imagined, it can feel as though we have fallen behind or taken a wrong turn. But sometimes the plan has to fall away before we can see what matters to us now—not what once impressed us, pleased others, or made sense on paper.

We can look at the distance between expectation and reality from another perspective. Which ambitions still belong to us? Which measures of success are we ready to release? What has the life we are living shown us that the plan never could?

The Asscher Cut reveals its depth through stepped facets and shifts in angle. Its beauty is not understood through a single glance, but through a willingness to look again.

Our lives deserve that second look. A change in direction does not make a life less successful. Sometimes it helps us recognize a richer kind of success—one measured not only by what we achieve, but by how fully the life we are living belongs to us.
